“Love is for everyone” or “You love who you love.”

While this may be what people say – as they tell you, “Live and let live,” you have heard too many negative comments about your ‘chosen’ life to believe that line anymore.

If you struggle to identify yourself, you will work even harder when you have a language barrier of terms, such as “I’m gay,” “I’m a lesbian,” or “I’m bisexual.” Most people seem to understand those terms.

But use “transgender,” “intersex,” or “asexual,” and some people look uncomfortable and don’t want to ask any clarifying questions – or know anymore what to ask.

So, you deny your true self – again – and say, “I’m gay.” That answer is frustrating to you because it only helps others feel better – and maybe become more accepting of you.

“I’m coming out” is just a song for you.

Many people you know had shared with you how they experienced abandonment or lack of support from their families when they came out. How would you handle that?

Every facet of hetero-normative life challenges you, including home, work, housing, religion – and even medical and mental health professionals. “Who gets ME?!?!?!?!

Whether you’re a Gold Star gay or questioning your orientation (or somewhere in-between), I want to see you, really SEE you.

Shouldn’t I know?
